about
Simmer is my interpretation of what it means to allow an idea to develop. It’s about patience and giving possibility some room to breathe and interact with my day-to-day life. Typically, when I create some space for an idea to grow, I’ll begin to notice a common thread of synchronicities,—memories, conversations, lines from a book, a poem or a song, dreams, and other moments. Some of these voices, or flavors, get stronger, some dissipate, and some become something new and different as they develop and rise to the surface. It’s not easy for me to let things simmer. I want instant gratification. I want to check things off my list. I want to share moments, experiences, thoughts, and pictures on social media. Capture it. Share it. Boom. Done. But what if things aren’t ready to be shared with the world? What if they haven’t fully developed into their true essence? What if they need some time to simmer?
lyrics
Simmer
Slow down
It’s not quite ready
A little more time
Slow and steady
Take this moment before the moment
Simmer, simmer
Breathe easy
Long and slow
The best things
Take time to grow
It will be here before you know it
Simmer, simmer
Chorus
Let it simmer
Till you feel it in your bones
In its time
The beauty will unfold
Possibility
Needs some room to breathe
Pour out all your best
Let time do the rest
Simmer, simmer
Relax
But don’t walk away
A little longer
It’s worth the wait
When the essence rises from within
Simmer, simmer
Let it simmer
Till you feel it in your bones
In its time
The beauty will unfold
Possibility
Needs some room to breathe
Pour out all your best
And let time do the rest
Simmer, simmer
